There are countries where Sharia law operates, but rarely exclusively in favour of man-made law. This in a sense shows the impracticality of implementing a God-given law in the modern world is the most reasonable reason for sticking with more flexible state laws which at least can be repealed in the light of new thinking.
In reality the strict Sharia rules which some adhere to are rarely enforced because such things as stonings to death of women for adultery when raped by men are recognised as both unjust and vestiges of a non too glorious past way of doing things.
The recent case of the Nigerian woman who survived the threat of a stoning (she too had been raped) by international pressure is an example of no matter how crazy the intention to stick to inappropriate punishments, the modern world view will out.
