Why are so many 'experts' almost always wrong about these issues? After all, even I know that the Caliphate is considered to be the Islamic Golden Age. In the 7th century, Islam was on the move in a major way, spreading all over the Middle East, into Africa, etc. I'm sure the radical Islamists would love nothing more than to achieve total hegemony under a caliphate.
