Faith in Others and More QuestionsReader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men Submitted by Straight_Talk_Luigi (United States), Apr 14, 2015 at 20:32 The type of man you describe is someone without a conscience. Yes, there are men like that- plenty in Egypt I'm sure. But being a Muslim country doesn't count for nothing, and many if not most muslim men (even the Egyptian ones) are sincere about their faith and the way they live their lives. They don't believe in deception, or dishonest practices. They try to be fair and responsible. I've seen nothing but a pure heart in my husband; and even before I met him, I have seen it in other Egyptian men I know who live here in the US. Oh, that's interesting. A lot of other women on here thought their men had pure hearts, too! What exactly do "other men you know in the USA" have to do with your husband? Why do you need their character to bolster your marriage, Amy? That is another red flag. And are you really relying on the general culture of his religion and country to assess his behavior, Amy? Can't you do that on an individual basis? I imagine it's quite hard to do being so far away most of the time, huh? One thing to point out: sometimes religious men will break with their values and have lots of sex outside of marriage with someone different….but in the end, they will strive for a virgin from their own religion and country. I don't know if he will ask me for money or not someday. Honestly, it doesn't seem a strange thing for a spouse to ask another for money. Unless of course the marriage is a total sham and one of the partners is a gold digger. You do realize that marriage does not make that problem (among others) go away, right? I shared money with my exes freely, it's part of marriage. All I know is, when I went to Egypt before and tried to pay for my own things, he wouldn't let me. He paid for everything. He insisted. I don't think a money grubber would've turned down my offer to pay my own way. But a VISA scammer may insist on paying for everything. Sorry, I just think that at some point, you have to believe people are what they do. One pretty much has to in your situation, Amy. It's just not possible to get know someone on-line or over the phone as it is in person. Nothing can change that, Amy. Not the strong, often false, overrated feelings that come with the experience and not your man's ethnicity or religion. It doesn't make sense to see someone doing good and being consistent in their word and action, and still call them a liar (and that based on no merit of their own, but someone else's one has only heard of and never even met!) So, Amy, do you think all the women on here who were lied to and scammed knew it right away, but went ahead anyway? A lot of their relationships started out nice and good, too. Why, Amy, do you think your relationship is different? Because you're a good writer and have been invited to edit blogs? Because Muslim Egyptian men could not possibly betray their religious values?
