Racism?

Reader comment on item: The London Markaz
in response to reader comment: Objections to the London Markaz based in racism

Voice, it isn't "racism" when the new neighbors turn out to perpetrate most of the rape in your community (including of very young girls), perpatrate terrorism, and turn parts of town into no-go areas. I do not teach my kids to have contempt for white people, black people, or anyone else; and in many years in a part of the United States often denigrated as "redneck" or "cracker", I got no trouble from my neighbors and made lots of friends. Come to think of it, those "racists" in South Carolina and Louisiana elected governors whose families came from South Asia.

I also lived in Taiwan, where I'm only partly compatible by race, and, you know, those provincial folks could be downright friendly and helpful if you respect them.

I'd be willing to bet that a lot of so-called "racist" native English don't mind South Asian, Chinese, African, or West Indian neighbors who are respectful towards older English ways.

As older Jewish acquaintances of mine might say, "racism-shmacism".

If the Muslim immigrants in Europe don't want the natives to hate them, they can respect the women of Malmo and tell their kids (especially the teenaged boys) that they need to show respect to people who differ with them.
