Objections to the London Markaz based in racism

Reader comment on item: The London Markaz

The opposition to the mosque is based on racism and xenophobia. How many people actually regularly attend church or are there practicing Christians? The adjacent Olympic 2012 construction is many times the London Markaz project yet we do not see the much opposition to. The Wembley stadium (Cathedral to football and entertainment) was increased to 90K without any noteworthy objections.

I am sure the mosques patrons will be a lot better behaved and quieter then Wembley's. When the mosques are built in traditional style the objections centre around how it does not fit with the surroundings and so on. Yet the millions of visitors to the Brighton Pavilion from all parts of the UK and world seem to have no problem with its very deliberate copy of Muslim architecture. Indeed there are many examples in the Midlands of the new-money rich set of the Industrial age emulating Islamic and other architecture.

Indeed Islamic architecture influenced British (Western) architecture long before: the castles that litter the European landscape have many influences from the Muslim castles. The Muslim influence does not stop there the "English" language comprises many foreign words like Algorithm, Mascara, Alcohol, Algebra....etc, etc. The distillation process was invented by the Muslims, soap, many medical instruments used today, etc, etc. All Nationalism. racial and cultural purity is based on deluded fallacies. So, please live and let live.
