Your sidelight is intriguing. From 1992 to today i see quite a swell in number of political hindus or hindutva ideologues. This I think is a direct result of the ruling indian national congress's leftist policies with respect to islamists.

There is a lesson here for the west. If your government succumbs to pressure tactics from Islamists, your people are likely to be radicalized towards the extreme opposite. That extreme opposite is quite likely to be a political party under some religious nut job.
