Reader comment on item: Romney's Remarkable Speech in Jerusalem

It is not clear to me why it matters that Presidential candidates in the USA go to visit foreign countries and make speeches. I did not understand it when President Obama went to Europe as if he was a music star and spoke to crowds of people. They will not be voting for him, so why? Dont the American people worry most about their lifestyles and the economic conditions? It seems simple enough that if the economics are bad, they will vote for someone else to give it a try. Everything else is second to this critical issue. Foreign policy is definitely second if the economics continue to decline.
