Reader comment on item: Niqab Security Outrages at Airports

Dear Dr Pipes:

Your Feb 26, 2012 update reports about a British fireman being forced to apologize when he commented on a muslim woman passing through the Gatwick security without revealing her identity. This fireman is not alone and Gatwick is not the only place: we all are virtual hostages when it comes to our freedom to express our thoughts on Islamism. Do you think twice before you criticize orthodox Jews in Brooklyn or Israel? Do you have to worry when you criticize the Hindu caste system in India? Must you worry when you make a good or bad movie on Jesus? The answer to all these questions is negative. But you cannot question without being branded a racist the Islamic prayers at odd hours on loudspeakers in hundred of cities on the planet. You cannot question the justification behind Islamic public charter schools in America. You cannot question why Muslim politicians can advertise Islam the whole night, but a Christian politician is questioned the moment he utters the word 'Christian' and a Hindu or Jew becomes a fundamentalist as soon as he utters the name of his religion.

Such are the ways of the world we live in: the more intolerant and vocal the Islamists become, the more defenders they are able to find.
