Islamic "radicalism" is merely the actualization of Islam.

Reader comment on item: Calling Islamism the Enemy

Your review of the changes in perception of the threat is instructive, however I disagree that they have gone in the right direction. Islamic radicalism IS the actualization of Islam. Remember the prophet Mohammed and his decapitation of 800 Jewish men and boys of the Banesh Qureyza tribe on Sinai simply because they refused to convert to Islam. The teacher settled on violence (the latter approach) as per the Q'uran. A few years ago, Dr.Wafa Sultan gave some very accurate descriptions as to why radical Islam is a red herring. I believe that you were present at that talk.

Islam is a violent religion. John Adams and Thomas Jefferson knew it and reluctantly spent one million dollars to build the U.S.S Constitution to send our Marines to Tripoli to kill the Islamists that enslaved and killed our Navymen. They understood the threat and the need to avoid paying a one million dollar ransom. We too must understand the threat by not minimizing it and constricting it artificially to some theoretical radical sect. Our Constitution protects the growth of religions of peace. Islam is not a religion of peace, but countless politicians either do not know this or have not read the Q'uran, the Surah, nor the Hadith. They only rebroadcast what they hear other misled miscreants saying to the press. We must strive for accuracy when we speak about Islam...a way of life...more than a religion...based in violence.
