Actualization of Islam

Reader comment on item: Calling Islamism the Enemy
in response to reader comment: Islamic "radicalism" is merely the actualization of Islam.

I agree with Mr. Guida. Islam , if practiced the way it is instructed condemns all Infidels to either slavery or death. The idea of a devout Muslim being a moderate is illogical. Moderate Muslims are infidels. When the day comes they will be judged just like Christians or Jews. When you pick and choose which beliefs of a religion you will follow, it becomes apostic, you have betrayed your faith. To assume that a "moderate" Muslim will build an Islamic Society with values and morals that represent our Western traditions is a mistake. The "Moderate" Muslim will quickly flee his tepid beliefs and value system when confronted, because his way of life does'nt involve standing up to religious ideologies - He has already abandoned them with his " moderate " position. And what will this non-committed Muslim take from the Quaran or Haidith ? Will he only disbelieve in the parts where it talks about killing and subjecting Infidels. Will he still practice female genitial mutilation, or child and spousal abuse? Will he subject children to early or arranged marriages? Or will this only be for the " Radicals ".

I think we need to understand that the real problem here is not fundamentalism or moderate, but source. If an apple is rotten you may be able to avoid the bad spots, but someone else may not. And eventually the whole apple rots. Moderates are a non-factor in any religion. They are fence sitters ready to fall either way. If Islam is to survive moderates will not be their leaders, for that would mean changing the source. No, Islam is a radical philosophy and it will be the true followers of the prophet that continue its mayhem. Without changing the apple - the rot will spread.
