President Obama is half rightReader comment on item: Calling Islamism the Enemy Submitted by Ted (United States), Jul 24, 2010 at 00:07 Dear Dr Pipes: Thank you for mentioning about President Obama's criticism of radical Islam. I have always believed that no other western leader --past or present -- has ever rebuked Islamists more strongly than President Obama did in his Cairo speech. His latest criticism of radical Islam adds to that earlier criticism (it may be politically motivated though; is popularity is sinking). But President Obama is only half right. He is wrong when he says that a vast majority of people in Islamic regions of the world reject radicalism. Lots of Muslims while perfectly reasonable in their day to day dealings become completely biased when Islamic expansionism is at stake. A majority of Muslims is deeply committed to expanding Islam at all costs (even unethical, exclusionary and violent). And it is probably because free thinking is not encouraged in Islamic societies as in the others.
