Cyprus--all of it--was inhabited by Greeks since about 1700 B.C. While I don't usually like the "who was there first" argument (it would send the entire Han race back to the banks of the Huang He; all Indo-Europeans back to the lands between the Elbe and the Don; and the Navajo and Apache back to interior Alaska and Yukon), I can't help feeling tempted to throw the "settler" epithet at the Turks. Come to think of it, don't they remember that they are conquerors and settlers in Anatolia and Thrace?
