another cyprus irony ?

It occurs to me that Cyprus may well be considered to be the greatest defender of Europe / European values: Turkey will never gain entry to the EU without a resolution to the Cyprus problem, i.e. the Cyprus problem is a barrier to 70 million muslims entering the EU?
