Modest politicians?

Do modest men run for political office? I can't think of any who do so successfully. I can think of many, though, who lost confidence while in office. We all do from time to time. When Pierre Trudeau lost it he just lost an election. When one lives in the world's premiere battle zone such slips make headlines.
