Reader comment on item: Glamorous Muslim Political Women

Submitted by stephen levy (Bahrain), Aug 12, 2009 at 09:58

dear daniel

i have enjoyed your analysis on syria for some time.the nation continues to threaten israel.i would prefer to see you concentrate on giving advice to israel on how to conduct itself in the future with syria.

i remember itamar rabinovitch writing that you were the only analyst who got syria right.

fashionable women are best left to vogue.

my best wishes

Daniel Pipes replies:

Thank you for the kind words.

I worked the Syria issue for fifteen years, 1985-2000, but the death of Hafiz al-Asad in 2000 followed by 9/11 tuned my attention away from it.

Islam in the West has more-or-less replaced Syria as a core interest of mine.
