It's easy for me to sit comfortably in my office in North Carolina and make the following comments, but I think they should be made anyway: Is there no faith worth dying for? Is life in the here and now all we have, that it should be preserved at all costs? Jesus said "Whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels" (Mark 8:38, ESV). This doesn't mean getting in everyone's face or looking for martyrdom, but if it means nothing when the chips are down, does it mean anything at all? I pray that I would choose the hard way and tell such Muslim terrorists who I belong to if ever I face a situation like that (and I did live in the Middle East for eight-and-a-half years).
