Bhutto's Orphans

Reader comment on item: Zulfi Bhutto of Pakistan: His Life and Times
in response to reader comment: Bhutto or a Magician

Leaders of Z A Bhutto's stature come once in centuries. Pakistan was given this gift but we failed to appreciate its value not only to Pakistan but to the entire Islamic world firstly and third world secondly. He was leader of a class who could be compared to any in the first world. Quite frankly there have been none in the third world to match him neither will there be any in the foreseeable future. This may give some idea of the magnitude of misfortune Pakistan, Islam and Third World has been struck with.

One can understand that Zia was a rabied, greedy dog who was trusted by him who bit him, but our whole nation let Bhutto down, in particular the opportunist politicians who felt that Zia might throw a few scraps of bread at them so they kept quiet letting him proceed with the murder of this great gift from God, they were all aware what Zia was doing but they colluded with him as they realised with Bhutto in politics they hadn't a hope in hell of succeeding in the political field. Shame on all of us! When I look at our poor masses I think of them as Bhutto's Orphans - as there is nobody now to look after them now!
