Segmentation of communities/socitiesReader comment on item: Where's the Muslim Debate? Submitted by M Saleem Chaudhry (United States), May 5, 2008 at 19:15 There is segmentation in all communities of races and religions. There is a small segment of extremists or fanatics which can vary from 1% to 15% as per my judgement ,there is no race or religion which has no extremists, likewise none has more than 15%.There is a segment of sympathizers and the vast majority is those of followers. To manage relative stablity and balance in any society or community it's important for religious and socio-poltical leaders to keep intensity of sympathy and number of sympathizers low through reorientation of people in general and extremists /sympathizers in particular as well as managing external stimuli. This is very daunting challenge but managable through influx of media and use of technologies for fast interaction and communication. However it 'll call for polling world resources as truly global village and refixing of priorities as per the challenges of 21st century to create conducive environments for relatively a peaceful and prosperous world for humanity at large. This in turn will call for the class of leadership, mentally emanicipated from fixations, biases and prejudices of all types with a fair degree of self-denial and capacity to forgive as advocated by Proff.Dr.Fred,head of Psychology,Stanford University and the author of the best seller,"Learning to forgive" Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
