I found this article refreshing to say the least. Mr. Haqqani, an obviously open-minded and very level headed Muslim Scholar, has made lots of very important points. The one that I found most interesting was to do with the fact that Westerners are trying to understand what is going on in the Muslim world, but the Muslims don't seem to want to know anything about us. We as a western society have become so tolerant, I feel almost too tolerant, towards other cultures. We tolerate segregation of our society under the heading of "Multi culturalism".One local council in Sydney banned the ham sandwich at their council functions last week, in order to accommodate the local Muslim population. It made the news headlines, probably because we know they wouldn't do the same favour to us! I may be wrong, but I do know those who'd agree.
