Submitted by Benjamin (United States), Sep 4, 2003 at 03:03 I agree with your observation, but how did this happen? When the Leftists were favoring the Soviet Union it made some sense. At least the Soviet Union was trying to put Leftist ideology into practice in some form.How did the Left coalesce around the Arab side in this dispute? Why? What does it have to do with the ideals of Socialism? The Palestinians have Leftists, Rightists, Centrists, just as Israel does. What would cause the Left to pick the Arab side to favor? If you say the Palestinians are the weaker side, and the Left always wants to help the weak, then where was the leftist help for the Kurds? Why aren't the leftists helping the Tibetans?
