I disagreeReader comment on item: Bush is rewarding terrorism Submitted by Isaac Yetiv (United States), Jun 26, 2002 at 20:04 I disagree with Mr Pipes. We should rejoice at the courage of the President to do what no President has done:1) he said clearly that Arafat must go , for "new and different leadership," 2) he went clearly against his Secretary of State 's often repeated mantra that Arafat is the elected Representative, only partner for peace etc...Powell may even resign; in my opinion, he should; 3) he attacked terror without mercy, not differentiating between good and bad terror; 4)he attacked Syria by name for its sponsoring of terror; 5) he demanded very little (and not immediately) from Israel, which Israel itself will do if there is no terror, to the point that many Arabs say speech was written by Sharon; 6) he said US will help establish a state and economic aid ONLY after a lot of conditions are met; 7) he indirectly attacked, at least warned, Arab leaders and Europeans not to help terror; 8) the situation is indeed "untenable" for both "peoples", as a fact, albeit their fault; ...
