Usually I wholeheartedly agree with everything that Mr. Pipes writes, however, I must voice some dissent this time. I think that Bush (appropriately so) put the responsibility of the Palestinian plight squarely on the heads of the Palestinians and the Arab world, where it belongs. I don't believe that Bush is rewarding terror; conversely, I believe that Bush's speech (warmly received in Israel) essentially gives Israel the green light finally to solve its problem by defeating the enemy. The speech says that the US is no longer going to concern itself with a regime compromised by terror and that Palestinian whining will now go unlistened to by the US.
Additionally, I believe that this speech allows Bush to go after Iraq because when the Arabs try to deflect attention back to the Palestinians' plight, the president can simply say, we have already addressed that situation, now let's talk about Saddam.
