An Offer They Cannot AcceptReader comment on item: Bush is rewarding terrorism Submitted by Paul Howard (United States), Jun 27, 2002 at 11:34 In a word, Bush made the Palestinians an offer they cannot accept. Accepting democracy means accepting commerce and trade with Israel -- a situation which cannot thrive, nor even substantially co-exist alongside a policy of war and terrorism. As you say, the goal of a majority of Palestinians is to destroy Israel, neither to coexist nor trade with them.Bush's offer was made, I believe, with the fore-knowledge that Arafat and his band of thugs will turn it down. Bush's offer is the first step in a calculated plan to destroy the Palestinian Authority once they in-effect reject the offer. The U.S. will eventually lump the Palestinians with the Iraqis in the coming war. The obvious post-war result will be friendly governments in Palestine and Iraq.
