The war aim you refer to leaves Israel only the timing and method of their destruction to negotiate.
Bush sending the message "terror pays" will cost American lives, since the next war aim is the destruction of America.
Billions of $ in gas/construction contracts with those friendly princes are saved through cautious pandering. Nothing will work out with such death-cult thinking, no matter how much optimism Powell professes.
In my opinion, maybe next generation.
