We should be assisting all Muslims of good will, not denouncing them & their religious faith

I have a problem with those in the West who insist on labelling all Muslim peoples as potential terrorists and terrorist sympathizers. The truth is both more mundane and more complex! Hannah Arendt's discussion of the "banality of evil" helps us to explain part of the problem: in modern academia, the "peer review" process is adept at filtering out any unpleasant and politically incorrect truths. If you want to get ahead, you had better play the game by the PC rules your more powerful "colleagues" have established. This politically correct drivel coming out of Western academia makes peaceful Muslims feel much more isolated and more at risk of violent retaliation.

Even more decisive: we in the free West are not very good at protecting Hirsi Ali or Theo Van Gogh, or any of the reasonable and courageous dissenters within the Muslim community. Like those who feared Htiler's and Stalin's secret police force, many Muslims must feel they cannot put themselves and their families at risk by speaking out against these homicidal fanatics who are hijacking their religion. What we ought to do: provide both more moral support and more bodyguards for those brave souls who wish to oppose these violent and power-hungry thugs from within the ranks of Muslim believers.

Pope Benedict would clearly wish to do this within the Roman Catholic Church. Western "inteligentsia" immediately began denouncing the Pope for his "insensitive" and politically incorrect remarks. May God be with all of those courageous and God-fearing Muslims who will be forced to deal with these Islamo-fascist devils in future years--with or without our help!
