Reader comment on item: Time to Profile Airline Passengers?

Submitted by mertens stefaan (Belgium), Aug 22, 2006 at 16:36

I think airline flights should be more carefully prepared, p.e. at least one day before the flight all passengers should declare in a written document what the purpose of their travel is and what the exact carry on luggage will be. When they check in and some things turn out to be altered too much (according to specified rules) they should be barred from the flight, if the religious profile is then habitually seen as an aggravating factor, so be it. The ways to provoke an explosion (chemicals, electronics, firemakers) are getting more and more diverse and sophisticated and so the measures to prevent this from happening have to be more complex and thought-through.
