New Lessons from Tisha B'av Come as Reminders That Old Lessons Still Need to be Observed

Reader comment on item: Will Americans Learn What Israelis Already Know?

Submitted by M Tovey (United States), Aug 8, 2022 at 10:12

Rocket fire in Israel never fails to remind of the hatred that one people must endure from another and suffereing those indignities in front of the global audience never fails to show how hardhearted the world really is towards the Jewish. Worse, for this observer who was born into the freest nation in world's history, people that were placed in a positiono of trust to preserve, protect and defend those freedoms are in active betrayal of that trust and worse still, project that infamy upon Israel. Now, the United States is getting a taster of the results of that betrayal; and somehow think that America is in some position to dictate terms of peace?
The noted phrase by Mr. Mead shown here in Dr. PIpes' article:
[Instead of lecturing Israelis, Saudis and others, know-it-all U.S. policy makers should start learning from them....] rings truer than the old liberty bell in Philadelphia; but who will heed that advise before the entire world learns what Tisha B'av has already taught Israel; freedom is hard fought and its price is beyond rational human thinking. The fight over the Temple Mount is a greater fight for religious freedom than America ever faced; if America could not defend it over here, what makes anyone think that defending it on the Temple Mount will not cost the world more than it will ever afford for the future.
