I am not sure about the food imperialism bit (l believe Dr Pipes doesn't either) but otherwise your points are completely valid. The only way this ends well is if there is a strong and perceptible shift towards atheism in the middle east in the medium term. The hope that there will be some sort of reformation while preserving faith is quite unlikely.
