Democrats should not celebrate too muchReader comment on item: "Republican Mob" Was Once an Oxymoron, Now It's a Reality Submitted by Prashant (United States), Jan 20, 2021 at 22:06 Dear Dr Pipes, Conservatives should not be too despondent and the liberals should not celebrate too much. The 2020 vote came down to 4 or 5 odd states and a few hundred thousand votes. These results should be seen in the light of what happened in the light of the pandemic between March and November 2020. In March 2020, the economy was booming and the unemployment rate was low even among the African Americans. Islamic nations were on the defensive and ISIS was long dead and buried. And, 21 democratic presidential wannabes had no clue about what to do. Then came the Pandemic. Pandemic worried President Trump more than it should have. I guess is that Mr Trump, at that time, got nervous that the Pandemic will make him lose the election. No one in March 2020 knew how to handle the Pandemic. But losing control, picking fights with everyone, and denying the pandemic was not the solution. This was Mr Trump's failing. He should have just made sure that he handled the pandemic at least as well as any other human being in his position. He should not have fought with China on the Pandemic issue, and with WHO and with the governors. Perhaps, Mr Trump did not have the wisdom/smartness/humility to face this threat with composure and grace. He failed miserably. Biden's task was easy: he had to just show up and pick the prize. He did. Anyone in his position could have done that. Democrat's behavior during the BLM protests was nothing to write home about. But no one cared. That said, Biden must not be too happy. Not one democrat has to vote republican in 2024. Not one additional conservative has to be born. More democrats came to vote than ever before. That was because of people's hate for Trump. And, to the sectarian zeal. 2024 will be a different ball game. People will start seeing the truth behind liberal divide-and-rule methodology. Hate-driven zeal will reduce. Conservatives have a better chance in 2024 than the democrats imagine.
