Where in the World is Daniel Pipes?

Reader comment on item: "Republican Mob" Was Once an Oxymoron, Now It's a Reality

Submitted by John McFadden (United States), Jan 16, 2021 at 09:42

In 2016 I voted for Trump. went home and took a shower. Had there been another candidate who had the same agenda I would have voted for him not Trump. But he promised to DO something

I am among the many Republicans who "wave(ed) away Trump's personal faults." I cringed at his tweets. His his" misstatements" of facts embarrassed me. I reacted to his treatment of John McCain with a string of carefully chosen Anglo-Saxon expletives.

But our nation is noticeably better because of him. Perhaps Mr. Pipes missed the message of the 2009 Party rebellion. We were fed up with our elected Representatives doing nothing (deliberately avoiding?) to fix things long broken. That same frustration resonated in 2016.

What astonishes me is that Daniel Pipes, of all people, left the Republican Party because he didn't like the president's demeanor.

Daniel Pipes replies:

Not demeanor. Character.
