Reader comment on item: Why Did American Airlines 587 Crash?

Submitted by Richard Kvies, Sep 13, 2019 at 19:58

Several friends and I observed AA587 shortly after takeoff and for 15 to 20 seconds prior to a bright, white, high brisance explosive detonate where the starboard wing attaches to the fuselage. We saw this from back (south end) of a residence at 157 Ave. int. 94 St, in Howard Beach. We phoned the PD and reported this it hit the ground. I submitted a comprehensive NTSB form report to an NTSB office in NJ.

Mr. Trombettas is an honorable and diligent journalist of the kind we need today. I served an officer on a Special Forces ODA for approximately five years, and I know what an explosion looks like. I'll stand with this story until my passing.
