Muta'aslimeen a new word in Egypt

Reader comment on item: Islamism's Likely Doom

Dr. Pipes

Here is an old Arabic word with a new meaning and it is al-Muta'aslimeen or متأسلمين which is now being used by liberals and secularists in Egypt to describe members of the MB and the word now means: دول المتشددين اللي بيقولوا انهم مسلمين وهم ابعد مايكونون عن روح الاسلام السمحة or it means the countries of those that are rigid (read this as Islamists) and they say that they are Muslims but they are very far from the tolerant spirit of Islam

And here is for readers that know Arabic a linguistic discussion about the meaning of the word

Again we should be supporting liberals and seculars in Egypt and not Islamo-fascists
