Islamists likely doomReader comment on item: Islamism's Likely Doom Submitted by Prashant (United States), Jul 31, 2013 at 15:00 Dear Dr Pipes, The key to bringing an end to the unwanted power that Islamists are exerting on our planet by their petulence, give-me-more behavior, and violent actions is just one: do not let them get away with even one act of hypocrisy and intolerance. Today, for example, a blogger was sentenced in Saudi Arabia (http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-202_162-57596285/saudi-arabia-sentences-blogger-to-7-years-in-prison-600-lashes-for-encouraging-religious-debate/) for insulting Islam. No stone should be left unturned by the civilized world to make sure that this blogger's sentence is commuted and Saudi authorities should not be allowed to earn any good will if/when his sentence is commuted. All people who bestow Islam with praise must be challenged to justify this event. Is CAIR paying attention? Coming to your point about infighting among Islamists, I find it perfectly understandable. There are only so many ways to be right and there are millions of different ways to be wrong. Islamists choose to be wrong using God as an excuse. For them it is justified to grab a yard for Islam in the western and eastern liberal societies but refuse to yield an inch in the middle Islamic societies (all of them are 98% Muslim!). And they justify this hypocrisy by using God as an excuse. But what else can be justified by using God as an excuse? Is there any thing that cannot be justified by using God as an excuese? An attempt on the life of a girl who advocates education for all children? Or an attempt on the life of a person who decides to explore other religions? Or an attempt to harass a woman who decides to wear a tight fitting attire? In Islamic societies since every person is acting as a custodian of God's will, every person fights with every other and a culture of violence emerges. Your forum is a God-sent in these turbulent times. I some times wish that if there were no middle east (no violence in the middle east, that is), you could have driven from Paris to Shanghai without the fear of being killed for no reason. We need to create that world. We need to take back the agenda from the Islamists. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
