Reader comment on item: Excluding Jews and Others from Law Courts
in response to reader comment: Jewish lawyers

Submitted by sara (United States), Mar 13, 2013 at 18:46

Susan,

I hesitate to consider such sweeping statements about Jewish lawyers and the Muslims who hire them. That said, there are certainly many excellent civil rights attorneys who are Jewish and who dedicate themselves to defending loathsome criminals and ideologues (the defenders of Ward Churchill come to mind). It is a fact that many US Jews grew up in the civil rights era and its importance to them entirely trumps anything else. They frequently confuse this concept with defense of minorities, and thus ignore the Islamist political element.

Come to think of it, our constitution does the same thing.
