Reader comment on item: Why Chris Christie Will Never Be President of the United States

Submitted by stranchan (Ukraine), Jun 28, 2012 at 04:07

If a politician has good traits or bad traits, that is the only issue that should be discussed. It is mournful that the physical attributes of Mr. Christie are used as attacks against him in the media or forums. It is the only type of discrimination that is permitted without judgement. To make a remark about a skin color, ancestry or even a background is considered morally wrong and you will not see anything in the media, whether it is relevant or not. But physical shape seems to elicit a grave reaction and interpreted to mean that the person must be lazy or unprincipled or otherwise unattractive. A politician in the USA can be anything these days except for the unforgivable sin of being physically unappealing
