I read the responses by Geller and Spencer and in fact that was what made me stop reading their blogs. The responses were disingenuous and deceitful. For example, they both mention relations between Ismailis and the Syrian regime. Good grief! Do they not know that Saddam Hussein's foreign minister was a Christian? Yes, the majority of the small Ismaili community in Syria probably supports the Assad regime as do the Druses and the Christians. It would, however, be absurd to attribute this to "islamism", just as it would be insane to view Tariq Aziz as an "islamist". The fact that Geller and Spencer pretend that they do not know this speaks volumes about them.
