Reader comment on item: [Breivik and] Norway's Terrorism in Context
in response to reader comment: What next?

Hi dhimmi no more:

Good to hear from you! Apologies for this rather late response but I have been busy with academic work. Anyway, I agree with pretty much everything you wrote there. Incidentally, I don't believe that disliking Islam as a whole will entail Breivik as a logical outcome of its worldview. All I wanted to emphasise was that a problem arises when one thinks there is a conspiracy between liberals/political elites and Islamists to subdue the West under Shari'a. Of course Islamists seek that outcome, but it's wrong to castigate Western governments as working towards such a goal.

Also, thanks for your comments about my piece exposing Islamic apologist Lesley Hazleton. I would agree that Karen Armstrong is the worst of them all! By the way, I have looked into John Wansbrough's theories on the development of the Qur'an, yet owing to an insufficient knowledge of Arabic philology I cannot evaluate them in depth.

Regards,

Aymenn.
