What is wrong in being a pagan diety?

Reader comment on item: What Is Israel's Next Move In The New Middle East?
in response to reader comment: Deborah is RIGHT, 'Allah' is originally a reference to pagan deity

It is difficult to be half right. While we dislike Islamists calling us infidels, many of us use the word 'pagan' in a disparaging way. Even in this thread the repsonders are repeating that Allah was originally a pagan diety and thereby implying as if being a pagan diety is something wrong. In my humble opinion there is nothing wrong with pagan deities. Vilifying others based on who/how they pray and not on what they do, is what is wrong.
