Reader comment on item: Islamist Apparel Banned in France

Submitted by Dan Rusen (Canada), Apr 12, 2011 at 21:35

The French ban on full body and head coverings is indeed a good start. But so far only a single woman has been detained for breaking the law, and this alone is causing plenty of trouble among Muslims and the Left.

It remains to be seen how adamant the French government will be when hundreds, if not thousands, of civil-disobedient Muslims begin to force more action to support the law. Even if the law is enforced it is far from clear what misery and mayhem will yet ensue. However, one step at a time. Perhaps the feckless Obama government will learn some object lessons from Sarkozy's leadership.
