Should the US care about Geert Wilders trial?

Reader comment on item: Western Civilization on Trial: Why We Should Be Watching Geert Wilders

Definitely!
As far as the USA is concerned, the Geert Wilders trial can be viewed as a "dress rehearsal" for the coming "lawfare" battles with militant Islam in this country. In fact, the covered here recently Joe Kaufman trial in Texas (even if won at this time by the forces of democracy and freedom), was one of the first attempts to curb and bridle this foundation of American freedoms — the freedom of speech. And it looks like many more similar attacks are "pending" in the near and far future.

As a great Czech patriot Julius Fuchik wrote before being murdered by Nazis back in 1943: "People, I loved you. Be vigilant!" Today, these words are addressed to all of us, including our media among others (as much as it sold its conscience to political correctness). The Fuchik's warning is as timely for the present, since the dangers looming today can easily turn into something similar to what Julius Fuchik faced.
