Reader comment on item: Why Shariah Must Be Opposed
in response to reader comment: RE: Sharia

Submitted by the Grand Infidel of Kafiristan (Australia), Sep 9, 2009 at 22:31

"Grand Infidel - You are obviously way off the mark and out of place. "
Because I disagree with you? That certainly does not make me way off the mark at all. What logic did you use to form that conclusion?

"My comments were clearly intended to point out that there are very often and quite clearly dubious interpretations and dubious applications of the Sharia. "

You made a sweeping statement that excused your co-religionist's behaviour yet then went on to say that those who criticise the so widely misinterpreted sharia (in your opinion) - as being ignorant viz: "As regards the Sharia, those who most vehemently oppose it are absolute ignoramuses.""

I then gave you specific examples of non-Muslims who have been and still are having negative experiences of life under sharia law. You've not yet acknowledged that point

"As a living and breathing Muslim, my life, education, prayer and other actions are carried out in accordance with the Sharia."

Good for you - I hope you feel your rites and rituals are actually getting somewhere in becoming a more conscious and aware human being.

"Muslims who apply the harshest or more questionable interpretations utilize very often "adat" ( local cultural practices or tribal customs) under the guise of it being a sunna. Thus, the various shades or interpretations of the Sharia, enough said on that point. "

No sweeping it under the carpet so easily. These are real flesh and blood huiman beings remember - who feel pain - and who are inflicted with harsh and severe punishments for trivial reasons

"Many non-muslims when offering their questionable commentaries on the Sharia and its place in the life of Muslims, ......"

And what is questionable about criticising barbaric practices? What is questionable is the mentality and bona fides of fellow Muslims who seek to do nothing about it.

"........often feeling that they do so from an enlightened place, this is most unfortunate and based generally on knee-jerk reactions, opining and willful ignorance. "

And your stance (the one that does nothing to change obvious injustice ) is enlightened and not ignorant? And how many Muslim websites have you actually written to to express your opinion about such barbaric activities?

"They should really stop this."

I can see it's a little inconvenient for you isn't it? Sorry , it won't be stopped. Your rules are not mine.

"Further, Muslims do not hate Jews - this is an outright lie being constantly perpetuated by ......"

Well, your little green book has a LOT of statements that are not congruent with that assertion. I personally know several (educated) Muslims who actually do harbour a dislike of Jews. And I certainly have been made aware of dislike bordering on hatred whenever crowds of Muslims get together to protest anything Israel does. I've also recently see the inauguration of the new Iranian cabinet. Do you think the whole assembly shouting 'death to Israel' was a shining example of tolerance and a live and let live attitude by the 100% Muslim parliamentarians? Who were the first to be executed by the Pakistani muslims who bombed the Bombay hotel? There are a myriad examples of Muslim hostility towards Jews - as you well know.

"As for my challenge, anyone with half a brain knows that Orthodox " Hasidim " follow a strict dress code and way of life according to their religion whose practices and subsequent applications are regulated by the interpretation of their laws."

Someone with half a brain should recognise that Muslims in most countries where they are in the majority require that non-Muslim women follow a strict dress code and way of life according to their religion whose practices and subsequent applications are regulated by the interpretation of their laws. And the same points - other than dress code apply for non-Muslim men.

"In fact, Grand Infidel it is you who lacks credibility, your comments are small-minded and immature at best. "

Well, if not praising you and accepting your BS (aside from Muslim BS) makes me seem small minded in your opinion - then I can't help that can I?

"I am sorry to disappoint you but,

No need to apologise - you don't disappoint me at all - all your comments have been true to type and expected.

' we do not all fit into your ... paradigm."'

There is no cliched generic Muslim just as there is no cliched generic anti-Muslim . So don't worry about that. For me there is no paradigm for you to fit into - you are what you are.
