Diplomatic Negotiations should be conducted discreetly between all parties without publiicity till consensus

Reader comment on item: Obama and Israel, Into the Abyss

There is absolutely no possibility of a peaceful solution if the negotiations are conducted in the media. It is essential for both the Palestineans & the Israelis to debate in private .It is possible for paries like the USA to act as "honest brokers" but no media publicity is needed until an agreement is reached between the sides. This traditional international approach has existed for generations & there is absolutely no reason to adopt a new technique when dealing with the Israeli Palestinean Negotiation.

Leaders on both sides & their brokers are so busy with their media image & advancing their international agenda which only too often has nothing to do with the Israeli Palestinean Negotiation. Can you imagine a large international company conducting a negotiation for a huge contract in the media. First you hammer out the full details fix the deal in strict privacy & then in the end when there is a binding agreement you go public.
