Although I heartily agree with Alex to give the Jews The Temple, you can't necessarily blame the Muslims. I beleive your theory is incorrect for the following reasons:

  1. I'm pretty sure the Koran doesn't say to hate other religions: "Allah forbids you not respecting those who fight you not for religion, nor drive you forth from your homes, that you show them kindness and deal with them justly. Surely Allah loves the doers of justice. Allah forbids you only respecting those who fight you for religion, and drive you forth from your homes and help (others) in your expulsion, that you make friends of them; and whoever makes friends of them, these are the wrongdoers" (60:8, 9)
  2. Your theory does not hold up for the killings either. I believe the Spanish Inquisition drove both Muslims and Jews out of Spain, yet you do not support their "claim" to Spain. "Where has the killings of the innocent people of Israel gotten them to. Nowhere." Same goes for Spain. It got the Roman Catholic Church nowhere.
  3. Although it does say this in the Koran: "Fight and slay the pagans (or infidels or unbelievers) wherever you find them?" (9:5), it is referring to non-monotheist religions, which were common during the time of its revealing.
  4. Even if you disregard these three reasons, take an analogy. You and your friend fight over who gets to keep an iPod that you both found. What do you do? You share it. Therefore it is more than fair to allow the Jews to go on with their worshipping at the Temple, and let the Christians and Muslims have their part of the city.
