There is a way to Palestinian Israeli peaceReader comment on item: George Mitchell's Return to Middle East Diplomacy Submitted by Ken Besig (Israel), Jan 27, 2009 at 11:04 There is a way to Palestinian Israeli peace, albeit a difficult one. This alternative requires maturity, honesty, courage, and morality on the part of the Palestinian leadership and the Palestinians. As a beginning the Palestinian leadership must repeatedly state clearly and publicly in Arabic and English that they and their people recognize and support Israel's legitimate right to exist in peace and security as a sovereign Jewish State for the Jewish People. Then the Palestinians themselves must be educated to give up for all time their mad dream of destroying Israel and murdering all the Jews who live here. This is all it takes to achieve a Middle East peace, no more peace conferences, no more special envoys, no more European quartet, no more UN, no more IDF Gaza sieges and blockades, and especially no more IDF reprisals and Kassam rockets. Indeed, if George Mitchell would simply demand the above from the Palestinians he could actually do what has never been done before, really and seriously open the door for achieving a durable, credible, and effective Palestinian Israeli peace. Of course, this same approach would more likely fail, but so what? If Mitchell goes about his business the way he and all the rest are accustomed to, he'll fail anyway, so he really has nothing to lose!
