Reader comment on item: George Mitchell's Return to Middle East Diplomacy

Submitted by Zentrist (United States), Jan 25, 2009 at 20:58

It is disappointing, to say the least, to hear that Mitchell is not considered the best pick. I'd hoped Obama would start something new, something definitive. I was very impressed and informed by David Gelernter's recent article (Jan 19) in the Weekly Standard: "Facing Reality." The image of the development of Palestinian envy and rage is not a pretty picture. It is quite at odds with the assessments of late of Jimmy Carter--about "genocide."

Those of us who care about this issue--in a non-biased way, to the extent possible--might well be nonplussed. Whom do we believe? All I can say here is that the Pipes perspective is unique among the articles I've been reading. Except for the article by Gelernter.
