Neither America or Canada can "improve relations between America and the Muslim world". The Qur'an clearly states that the world belongs to Islam and since 638AD, Muslims have been attacking other nations to submit them to Islam.
Sura3 Aya85 If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), it will never be accepted from him.
Sura3 Aya151 Soon we shall put fear into the hearts of unbelievers.
Sura4 Aya56 Surely, those who reject our signs, we shall soon throw them into the fire.
Sura4 Aya76 Those who believe(Muslims), fight in the cause of "Allah".
Sura4 Aya89 But if they become those who deny the faith(Islam), catch them and kill them.
