Reader comment on item: [The Khadrs:] Canada's First Family of Terrorism

Submitted by Peter Edgar (Australia), Mar 16, 2004 at 19:28

Dear Daniel
I'm a regular, if sporadic, reader of your column. It is a very helpful commentary on the events of our time. The Canadian extremists you write about above demonstrate the worldwide nature of this extremism. Here in Australia we are having our own difficulties. A recent contoversy involves the 'Mufti' of Australia, one Shiek El Hilaly. On a trip to the Middle East he made comments which as near as dammit justified the September 2001 atrocity. Of course, it was all explained away by his interpreter, one Khayser Trad, who said that the Arabic of the Sheik had been 'misinterpreted'.
Your work is greatly appreciated. P Edgar
