Reader comment on item: Bush's Middle East Hopes [and His Failures]

Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Jan 17, 2008 at 14:07

The United States of America is in serious trouble, so much so that the next president, whoever that may end up being, will inherit the consequences of siding with the wrong people. Seeing the President strolling oh too closely with the leader of a regime that is as much a cause of so many problems as the leader of a nearly nuclear antagonist, one cannot help but wonder that if something were to break in Lebanon or to the south of Israel which provokes a call for assistance to Israel, would the United States even respond?

The hopes that now appear to be reaffirmed are those of the Muslim community, which for years struggled to increase pressure to put Israel out, now have their final ally for such a thing to happen. There is only one place left for Israel to turn, to her Eternal Sovereign. HE will have the last WORD, period.
