Dear Dr. Pipes You sure surprised me with your positive tone towards the MEK.You have given me cause to ponder. I begin by mentioning that I detest MEK for what it was and for what it is:an Islamic-Marxist organization. Feeling anxious for the future of Iran, I also fear MEK. It has lately been designated as a terrorist cult, which has been my personal belief for many years now.
I know of their potential value, as intelligence gatherers spying on the criminal mullas in Iran. We should consider using them, of course. Yet let's bear in mind: They have shown that they are willing to die for their leader Masoud Rajavi, who was and still is an Islamic-Marxist (the name was coined by the late Shah of Iran). They adhere to the strict separation of sexes and have a general philosophy closely linked to that of mullas rulling Iran. If we should decide to use their intelligence capabilities we should always be alert to their true identity. The late ayatollah Khomeni too said all the right words before he came to power and the MEK, among others, helped him reach power. Once he was in power, he sang a different tune. Taqy'ya (=deceit?) is considered a virtue in Shi'ite Islam.
MEK should be considered an Islamist entity and should therefore be treated as potentially a deadly enemy.
