Few comments: 1.MEK has no real popular base in Iran. Most Iranians hate MEK. MEK assisted Saddam during its war with Iran and was based in Iraq. Iranians will never forget or forgive that.
2. MEK is a cult organization . Mr. Rajavi and his wife appointed as the president of Iran!!! are head of this cult and rule the organization with Iron fist. 3. MEK's ideology is very similar to the ruling mullah's ideology of Velayet Fagih or religious rule with a different flavor. This time around we are looking at Ayatollas without the turbans! Rajavi == Pol Pot of Cambodia.
3. MEK and Mr. Rajavi are responsible for the deaths of thousands of young Iranians in the early 80s when they took arms against the regime and Mr. Rajavi escaped the country without providing any leadership to the lower ranking membes of its orgaization who were brutally masacred by the Mullas. Similar operations eere conducted from Iraq ("Forogh Javidan" = Eternal light) against the well equiped Iranian army where many young people were masacred. In each case and even now the leadership of MKO has comfortably been hiding.
4. MEK is an organization where members have no right to critisize the leadership and often were jailed and tortured in Iraqi camps and jails.
5. Finally, MEK helped Saddam with many atrocities committed.
6 I do not believe it is in U.S advantage to use MEK. U.S should help the lower ranking members find refuge in other countries and not get massacared again. Most of these kids have been brain washed by MEK leadership.
